Hello my name is Melody I am 19-year-old student in retail management from Texas. I was 9 years old when my scars started to appear. One day I woke up and had this huge scar on my left thigh, to me it just looked like a huge bruise. I was a very active child so my mother, who is a nurse thought nothing of it. A few weeks later the bruise turned into a scar and became extremely hard. I was unable to move without this cracking open. After a visit to our family doctor, where my mother worked, we thought that I might just be coming down with a skin condition called vitiligo. Luckily for me my mother was not satisfied with that explanation, and that week I went to see a dermatologist. During my visit he preformed a biopsy, and for some reason no matter how much he tried to numb the area it hurt. A week or two later I was told that I had a Skin Condition called Morphea, and began treatment.
I am now 19 years old and my scar on my thigh has become soft again. It is
still brown and white but no longer cracks open. I have a couple more
spots on my body, but they are mainly over old scars. I have not seen a
doctor about my morphea since I was diagnosed but when I do inform a
doctor that I have a skin condition most have never heard of it. I am glad
to see that there are people out there that are able to express and inform
others of this condition.
